Staying Focussed Is The Bane Of My Existence

Staying Focussed

When I started out on this journey of internet marketing, little did I know that I I would struggle at keeping focussed!

At work (my normal 9-5 desk job), I would pride myself on being able to get lots of things accomplished during the day. Multi-tasking was a given and we would often juggle 5 to 6 different jobs/projects at one time.

But with internet marketing, it seems like staying focussed on one task or one strategy is a real task in itself. And being a stay at home mom probably compounds this.

I have thought about this for a number of weeks and I think it is due to being bombarded with emails and "the latest strategy" constantly. When I first started signing up for "free" ebooks and the like I would be drawn into reading every email that that particular "guru" would send out. What ended up happening was that I spent my days being distracted by the latest ‘new’ fad or product launch rather than focussing on my own projects.

So to combat this I have decided on a number of rules:

1. I don’t read any of these emails from websites I have signed up on at all. If I think the emails are remotely interesting, I transfer them to an email folder for safekeeping rather than wasting time reading another sales letter/ pitch or product release.

2. I have stopped spending time on the Warrior Forum. Whilst it is a great resource, I found that I spent hours reading posts and people’s comments rather than taking action on things myself.

3. I have joined up for a mentoring program. This is a 10 week course that will help me focus on 1 particular area with multiple strategies. Wasn’t cheap, but I think will be worth every penny. Rather than keep buying ebook after ebook I needed a mentoring course to keep me on track.

4. Prioritize my time better. I still spend lots of time with my baby but it is in spurts. She is always in view (except when sleeping – bliss!) but I am splitting my time between interacting with her, feeding, keeping the household running and spending time for myself!

Not an easy task, but it has involved me trying to cram as much into my day as possible without going mad at the same time!

So how do you stay focussed?

Share your tips and experiences so we can all be more productive and achieve our goals!

My Mind Movie

July 16th, 2009 — 11:45pm

As I have outlined in my previous post, the Law of Attraction is of interest to me. An email about something called a “Mind Movie” has been sitting in my inbox for the last few days. If you are anything like me, you would have a heap of emails from various internet marketing “gurus” in your inbox, waiting to be opened. I have signed up for so many I can’t remember who each person is!

Anyway, I had this email about Mind Movies in my inbox and finally decided to open it. I have to say, the testimonials for this are AMAZING! So I have been completely sucked in.

Basically, Mind Movies takes the visualisation aspect of the Law of Attraction further by actually making a “movie” outo of your goals and dreams. The great thing about it is that there is the program that actually plays your movie in the background of your computer 24/7 – kind of like a watermark, but you can control the opacity and sound. How cool is that?!!

Anyway, apparently you put together your Mind Movie with affirmations and images and this is meant to turbo charge the Law of Attraction.

I am part way through making my Mind Movie so will keep you posted as to whether it actually works! If you are curious, check out their website here. There are bonuses on offer, but they don’t really interest me – its the testimonials that are really amazing, plus they are giving away 6 free mind movies. These movies give you an indication of what Mind Movies are all about.

Stay tuned for my progress!

Procrastination … A Common Problem

June 30th, 2009 — 3:09pm

When I was studying for exams, procrastination was an everyday problem.  Everything else became more important or necessary than opening my books.  It was amazing how interesting the mid-afternoon B grade movie on TV becomes, or how I suddenly got the urge to sort the clothes in my dresser!

But once I finally got stuck into studying, it seemed ridiculous that those things took precedence. I got “into the groove” and it was easy (well, as easy studying can be!) to focus on what I needed to do to prepare for my exams.

It is probably not surprising then, that procrastination seems to be a continuing problem for me and most people. It rears its head in the housework that is piling up, the photos that we never seem to get around to printing and cataloguing, the junk that we keep hoarding in the hope that one day we will sort it out.

But once we get stuck into things, we wonder what took us so long to start it! And the feeling of accomplishment after completing a task makes it all worthwhile.

So go ahead … don’t procrastinate and get those long awaited tasks out of the way!
