  1. Instant Gratification

    July 12, 2009 by Michelle

It seems that everything in life is focussed on instant gratification. The internet in particular has made this even more pronounced. You can download movies, music and information quickly and immediately. Don’t want to wait for the snail mail to arrive? Then just send an email and receive a response from the other person now. Can’t wait for that outfit to arrive in the stores, then just surf the web and buy it on-line.

We have become so used to getting things right now that we sometimes forget that not everything can be achieved right away.

The same is with internet marketing. There is no “get rich scheme” or “automatic cash machine”. The worst thing you can do is to constantly chase the latest fad, the latest idea/product. The best thing you can do is treat internet marketing as a proper business; put in the hard yards, constantly learn from the best and stay committed to your course of action. Even though the internet has made us used to getting things now, ironically, the old fashioned values of working hard and being focussed applies to creating a successful internet business.

Though I’m still learning the ropes and finding my feet in internet marketing, I believe that if you apply traditional business habits, then you have a much better chance of success than 90% of the people out there that are also in the internet marketing arena.

  2. 7 Crazy Ideas That Made Millions!

    July 10, 2009 by Michelle

Received this blog from the Toilet Paper Entrepreneur and thought that it was a great read! So much for racking one’s brain to come up with a smart or clever idea. These ideas are just plain wacky! Though I have to say, I take my hat off to idea number 4 – that is truly a mark of genius.

Now I’m off to see if I can somehow commercialise that piece of mouldy bread in my cupboard….

  3. The Importance of Focus

    July 6, 2009 by Michelle

I’ve found that as I have been exploring the world of internet marketing, I am constantly getting sidetracked by either the “latest products” or different techniques espoused by various internet marketing gurus/specialists.

A common problem that others starting out in the internet marketing space is the lack of focus – people are constantly chasing what seems to be the latest technique or product.

In my journey into internet marketing, I have to remember to keep focussed on a particular method rather than jumping around and trying different techniques. It is easy to get continuously distracted and lose direction in what you are trying to do.

This applies in other aspects of life as well. We have become increasingly conditioned to wanting results and things NOW and as a result anything that takes effort and time becomes “too difficult”.

Do you find it difficult to follow through on promises or fail to achieve your goals?

  4. Warrior Forum – The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread!

    July 5, 2009 by Michelle

    Extremely excited!

Just discovered Warrior Forum. It’s been around since 1997 so feel like I’m a latecomer to the party, but for those that don’t know anything about, it’s a forum dedicated to all things to do with internet marketing.

I’ve spent the last 4 days on this forum, just reading through threads and the information on there is gold!. I only wish that I had come across this forum much, much earlier.

For anyone that is looking for assistance, tips, strategies, product reviews or just any questions around everything under the sun to do with internet marketing, then Warrior Forum is the place for you.

But remember, the best way to jump into internet marketing is to actually take action. You can spend all day reading through forums (which is definitely recommended for tips and advice) but many people fall into “analysis paralysis” where they keep moving from one thing to another and never really focus on a set strategy.

What I have come to discover on Warrior Forum is that everyone has their own twist on internet marketing and what works for one person won’t necessarily work for the next. If someone has success using pay per click, then they will naturally recommend PPC as a strategy. If someone is making article marketing work for them, then they will say that article marketing is the way to go. Definitely research the pros and cons of each method, but eventually, you will need to find what works for you!

  5. The Mogul Mom: Point of Difference

    June 30, 2009 by Michelle

I find Heather Allard’s blog, The Mogul Mom, a good read. Today she had a really interesting article on the “Point of Difference“. It relates to her brother wanting to sell organic dog biscuits. But she makes some good points on how points of difference is important where competition is stiff.
