  1. Traditions – what is your view?

    April 29, 2011 by Michelle

We were at a friend's place the other day and we were discussing Easter, Christmas etc. And we got onto the topic of traditions. For example, do you celebrate Easter with the Easter bunny, Christmas with Santa Claus and the Tooth fairy?

Being a new time mother it was something that I hadnt quite thought about and Boo has been too young thus far to worry about these things. Interestingly, most of the mums there said that they were not into these sort of traditions but it got me thinking – what traditions should we celebrate and is it worth buying into a little consumerism/commercialism for the benefit of seeing how much enjoyment a child gets out of it?

What line do you draw with these traditions – is it a simple Easter Egg hunt or do you go all out with the Easter bunny story, leaving paw prints around the house? or are you the sort of family that has decided not to even follow these traditions?

    Let me know your thoughts!

  2. What lucky people do differently?

    April 28, 2011 by Michelle

I subscribe to a lot of blogs and newsletters.  I just love reading and absorbing new information (which might explain why I go for days without posting – you can safely assume I am taking in the world :D ). One of the newsletters that I have been a long time subscriber to has just released this amazing post: "What lucky people do differently".

It's from Jonathan Fields from Career Renegade. I have to admit I haven't bought his book yet, but I love his articles and posts (so the book isn't too far away – but to buy a Kindle or ipad?? That is a post for another day!).

This article in particular really resonated with me in a way that an article hasn't done for a while. Really, go read it – it is truly inspirational :) .

  3. It’s raining, it’s pouring…

    April 26, 2011 by Michelle

Winter is finally in the air and I went out today looking for winter goodies for Boo. She has outgrown all her winter clothes from last season so we went hunting for a raincoat. I found one that we liked (a little too big, but we are just going to roll up the sleeves – the length is perfect!). For a bit of fun we also tried on some gumboots which i just LOVED!

So this inspired me to hunt down more winter gumboots:

  4. Cover my world

    April 17, 2011 by Michelle

We went to a friend's place on the weekend and they have the most beautiful wallpaper – which got me thinking of our new house and whether we should have a "feature wall".

We havent really come up with a concept/look for our place yet. Our furniture is pretty contemporary so we aren't planning on changing it anytime soon (and finances are dictating that we will be using our furniture for a long time yet!) but we do like the idea of a feature wall in some of the rooms in the house.

Seeing our friend's wallpaper in a 'real life' environment (and not in a display home!) made me go searching for some wallpaper ideas. I love the idea of flocked wallpaper but something with some colour (so not standard black and white) as our house is fairly neutral.

Here are some that I found:

    from Amazing Walls

    from BKKHome

     from Sabazoo

    from Simply Home Designs

The choices and ideas are endless!! Any help would be appreciated :)

  5. Easter Crafts for Kids

    April 14, 2011 by Michelle

I love Easter – usually because of the eggs, but also for the time that we get to spend with family.  However, having a little one around gives it a whole new meaning.  My daughter isn't old enough yet to be interested in Easter, but I love the thought of doing some crafts with her when she is a little older.

Not being particularly handy, I gravitate towards things that look easy and simply to make!

    Here are some great ideas:
