When I was studying for exams, procrastination was an everyday problem. Everything else became more important or necessary than opening my books. It was amazing how interesting the mid-afternoon B grade movie on TV becomes, or how I suddenly got the urge to sort the clothes in my dresser!
But once I finally got stuck into studying, it seemed ridiculous that those things took precedence. I got “into the groove” and it was easy (well, as easy studying can be!) to focus on what I needed to do to prepare for my exams.
It is probably not surprising then, that procrastination seems to be a continuing problem for me and most people. It rears its head in the housework that is piling up, the photos that we never seem to get around to printing and cataloguing, the junk that we keep hoarding in the hope that one day we will sort it out.
But once we get stuck into things, we wonder what took us so long to start it! And the feeling of accomplishment after completing a task makes it all worthwhile.
So go ahead … don’t procrastinate and get those long awaited tasks out of the way!

I find Heather Allard’s blog, The Mogul Mom, a good read. Today she had a really interesting article on the “Point of Difference“. It relates to her brother wanting to sell organic dog biscuits. But she makes some good points on how points of difference is important where competition is stiff.
Check it out here: Point of Difference

The great thing about the internet is that there are plenty of freebies out there for people just starting out or for those on a tight budget.
One great freebie are the free Wordpress themes. This site, Kateyboo.com, is using one of these free themes taken from www.webdesignlessons.com. They have a number of variations on this theme so check them out (I’m not an affiliate, just love their work!).
For more themes, either go to: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ or just type in “free wordpress themes” in Google. Enjoy searching for your perfect theme to customise your site!

I have decided to take the plunge and look into internet marketing.
Type “internet marketing” into Google and you get 47 million hits! And every page seems to be a new revolutionary internet marketing course/software/coaching program which claims to be better than any other you may have seen.
Each of the “gurus”/product sellers promise the same things:
- They all claim to have the “product” that will make you rich and able to throw in your job
- They have all spent thousands of dollars on internet products in the past that have been useless until they “stumbled” across a particular product or developed their own “formula”
- Many of them were broke, destitute, had only $2.50 left in their bank account (if they even had a bank account – I think one of them apparently had his identity stolen so he couldn’t even open a bank account)
- Their product is a “must have” product that has made a heap of people rich or even millionaires
- You will spend the next 50 years wasting your efforts on out-of-date techniques if you don’t buy their product/course
- There is only a limited number of these products available or they are only opening their doors for a limited period of time
- They seem to promote each other’s products
Another important recurring theme is their sales letters. And no wonder they are “gurus” in their field. Their sales letters are all incredibly well written and and they make you feel like you NEED to buy their product/course now!
Coming from a basic knowledge of the internet and concepts like niche marketing, pay per click, adsense etc., it does make sense to buy some of these products to leverage off what others have already learnt. I could spend months trying to learn everything myself, but that would be an inefficient use of my time. So it’s a matter of trying to work out which product/guru suits and which I trust. I can’t afford to buy all the products, so I need to be discerning in which ones I buy/trial.
As I trial various products, I will post my honest review of them. Obviously you will need to do your own research but hopefully my comments and thoughts will help.

With a new baby, my priorities in life have changed. It’s amazing what suddenly becomes important once you start a family. The things that used to matter before now seem so trivial compared to what we face now.
Myself and my business partner have been looking for an idea to float/commercialise for over 2 years. Plus, in the last 6 months, I have been searching for my own answers to financial security.
Historically, my business partner and myself don’t have a good track record in getting things off the ground. We are have looked at everything from:
- multi-level marketing
- gumball machines
- chocolate floral arrangements
- coffee carts
- pet accessories.
But through a discussion my business partner had with a colleague of hers, we have identified a need for an educational product that teaches people how to manage their money in a simple but hands-on way.
We have analysed the market, the competition and the figures behind this idea and have decided to pursue this idea through to commercialisation. Stay tuned for updates as to our progress – both the highlights and the hurdles in our push to bring this idea to life.
